A status report on the security matters was tabled to the meeting. As at May 2009, MPOA SSSB has 46 participating companies with a total of 202 estates, 29 mills and 4 refineries. The total planted areas involved were 326,594 hectares. The total number of AP personnel being employed stand at 615 as compared to the approved strength of 1,227.
Efforts had been undertaken to expand the MPOA SSSB to Sabah especially in Sandakan and Lahad Datu. With the commitment given by 5 companies with an area of 120,000 hectares, new branches will be set up in Sandakan and Lahad Datu soon.
One new phenomena that occurred in the plantation is the widespread theft of buffaloes occurred in the Central/South Zone The general security situation in all participating units has been good and well under control.
